Thomas School of Dance offering free classes for boys and men

Bangor’s Thomas School of Dance is offering two free dance classes exclusively for boys and men. Instructors are both male members of Bangor Ballet and students of Ivy Clear-Forrest, artistic director of Bangor Ballet and head of the ballet department at Thomas School of Dance, which is located at 14 State Street in Bangor.

Tommy McCarthy will teach a free class, 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, which will include basic ballet and a second style dance which could be tap, hip-hop, Irish or jazz depending on the interest of the boys. This class is for boys ages 7-9. McCarthy has studied at the Boston Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet in New York City.

August Eaton teaches a free classical ballet class 5-6:15 p.m. Thursdays for boys and men ages 10 and older. Eaton has studied at the School of American Ballet, the training school for New York City Ballet.

No previous experience is required.
