ROCKLAND, Maine — A fire Thursday night at an apartment house in Rockland was set, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Investigators believe the 35-year-old woman who was living in the first-floor apartment at 25 Talbot Ave. started the fire, Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland reported Friday. The woman, who was not identified, was not injured but has been hospitalized for unspecified reasons, and a decision on charges will be made after the District Attorney’s Office has been consulted, McCausland said.

The fire was confined to the kitchen of the apartment with smoke and heat damage throughout the apartment. There was minor smoke damage to the three other apartments in the building. Firefighters from Rockland and Rockport were at the scene.
