Aroostook Medical Center nurses sponsoring coat drive for needy

By Rick Levasseur, BDN Staff

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Aroostook Medical Center nurses are sponsoring a coat drive to help the needy during the holiday season. The nurses also are sponsoring a Float for Coat Collection in the Christmas Light Parade on Saturday.

“With the cost of heat rising for Mainers this winter, the nurses wanted to help give some warmth to those in need,” said Kim Cooper, who is among the nurses represented by the Maine State Nurses Association putting on the drive. “We are sponsoring a coat drive during this holiday season. Please help us heal this community.”

There will be collection boxes on the MSNA float during the parade, which will start at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Coats also may be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Day Surgery Unit at the hospital at 140 Academy St. in Presque Isle.
