VAN BUREN – Antoinette (Chasse) Ouellette, 82, died Nov. 28, 2011, after a short illness at Borderview Rehabilitation and Living Center, Van Buren. She was born May 22, 1929, in Van Buren, daughter of Ernest and Regina (Berube) Chasse.

Antoinette was a devoted mother and grandmother, and was upbeat, practical and always had a smile for all who knew her. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her children, family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were playing bingo and card games, especially Scat and Canasta. She had a great sense of humor and frequently watched reruns of "I Love Lucy" and "The Golden Girls." In her younger years, she looked forward to winter, loved walking in the evening when the snow was falling, enthralled with its beauty. The Christmas season was her favorite time of year. She got very excited about putting up her Christmas tree and manger. The family tradition was taking short rides around town to see all the bright lights.

She is survived by four children, Donald Ouellette and his wife, Rita, of Hampden, Michael and Mark Ouellette of Van Buren, and Deb Corey and her significant other, Jerry Dickinson, of Washburn; six loving grandchildren, Michelle Allmon, Stephan Ouellette, Brad Corey, Heath Ouellette, Nikki and Karie Ouellette; four special great-grandchildren, Rylee Ayotte, Emma and Ellie Allmon, and Parker Corey; sister Corrine Cormier; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Antoinette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo James Ouellette; son, Gary Ouellette; son-in-law, Rick Corey; brothers, Arthur, Guy, Artie and Philip; sister, Loretta; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In accordance with Antoinette’s wishes, family and friends may call 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren, where a memorial Mass in celebration of her life will take place 10 a.m. Interment afterward, weather permitting. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Chanel’s Parish Needs Fund, 174 Main St., Van Buren, ME 04785.
