FALMOUTH, Maine — A Falmouth woman was arrested Tuesday after a routine inspection of her apartment yielded 11 pounds of marijuana, according to police.
Police arrested Kellyjean Kelley, 47, and charged her with trafficking in marijuana, Falmouth police Lt. John Kilbride told the Bangor Daily News.
Kilbride said the Avesta Housing Authority conducted a routine search of Kelley’s apartment and when contacted police when the marijuana was discovered. Kelley also had specialized lights and vents as part of a growing operation.
The workers were inspecting Kelley’s apartment in an effort to evict her, Kibride said.
Avesta Housing provides low-income housing, but Kilbride said Kelley was not on state assistance.
A search warrant was obtained for Kelley and she was subsequently arrested and booked into the Cumberland County jail, where she made bail on Tuesday. The drugs had an estimated value of $40,000, Kilbride said.
No weapons were found in the apartment.
