The Senior League World Series will return to Bangor’s Shawn T. Mansfield Stadium next August for the 11th consecutive year, according to Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball.
The Little League International Board of Directors recently approved the dates and sites for all eight Little League World Series tournaments scheduled for 2012, including the SLWS — the Little League Baseball championship tournament for ages 13-16.
The sites for all eight Little League championship baseball and softball tournaments will remain the same for the 11th consecutive year.
The 52nd Senior League World Series, which has been played in Bangor since 2002, will begin on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, and continue through the championship game on Saturday, Aug. 18. The tournament, hosted by Maine District 3, will feature five days of pool play among the host District 3 champions, five U.S. regional winners and the championship teams from Canada, Asia Pacific, Europe-Middle East-Africa and Latin America.
U.S. West champion Hilo, Hawaii, won the 2011 SLWS title, defeating Rose Capital East Little League of Tyler, Texas, 11-1 in the final game.
