Woman’s body found in Dover-Foxcroft in Piscataquis River

By Alex Barber, BDN Staff

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — The body of a woman was found in the Piscataquis River on Monday morning, police said.

Lt. Robert Young of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said he discovered the body behind the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce building on South Street at around 7:30 a.m.

Police Chief Dennis Dyer declined to release the woman’s name or any other details but said the death is not suspicious.

“It’s still under investigation,” he said.

Mark Belserene, administrator for the state medical examiner’s office, said the office received a body from that area and an autopsy will be performed.

“It should be done today or tomorrow,” said Belserene.
