KENNETH BRIAN HARRINGTON SR.

BUCKSPORT and LEEDS – Kenneth Brian Harrington Sr., 67, died Nov. 22, 2011, in Bangor. He was born May 14, 1944, in North Cambridge, Mass., son of Edward A. and Eleanor (Gates) Harrington.

He was a 1962 graduate of Leavitt Institute, Turner. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of honorable service, and was a veteran of the Vietnam and Cold wars. He was a member of American Legion, Trenton, and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bangor and Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Elks in Ellsworth and a life member of Bucks Mills Rod and Gun Club, Bucksport, where he was an active member. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards with his buddies, and enjoyed his hunting and fishing camp in Springfield. He had a great love for Maine traditions, its woods and nature, and his memories of his friends and years in school at Leeds Central School and Leavitt Institute, Turner.

He leaves his wife of 22 years, Jean Hatfield Harrington of Bucksport; son, Kenneth B. Harrington Jr. of Seattle; two daughters, Patricia M. Chaplin and husband, James "Casey" of San Antonio and Katrina J. Fletcher and husband, Samuel, of Spokane, Wash.; stepdaughter, Karen C. Lander of Ocala, Fla.; "special adopted" daughter, Debra Davis of Ocala, Fla.; brother, David W. Harrington Sr. and his wife, Brenda, of Turner; granddaughter, Shanna M. Chaplin of San Antonio; two grandsons, Samuel Fletcher IV and Joshua Fletcher of Spokane, Wash.; stepgrandson, William A. Lander of Manchester, N.H.; two nephews, David W. Harrington Jr. and wife, Donna Marie, of Turner and Kent E. Harrington and wife, Ann, of Canton; niece, Kelly LaCroix and husband, Greg, of Greene; two great-nephews, Nickolas Harrington and Spencer Berube; great-niece, Ashlee Vandiver; great-great-nephew, Tucker Harrington; sister-in-law, Ellen Busching and husband, Douglas Randolph, of Williamsburg, Va.; and special longtime friends, Robert and Mary Trott of Texas.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Memorial donations in Kenneth’s memory may be made to Bucks Mills Rod and Gun Club, care of Floyd Clement, 359 Bucksmills Road, Bucksport, ME 04416. Arrangements under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
