CARIBOU, Maine — The Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home was honored with a 2011 Pursuit of Excellence Award by the National Funeral Directors Association on Oct. 24 during the organization’s International Convention & Expo in Chicago.
It was the second year in a row the Caribou funeral home won the award. It was the only funeral home from Maine and one of 147 from the association’s more than 9,900 members around the world to receive the organization’s highest award.
Award recipients must meet or exceed stringent business standards set forth by the association and demonstrate proficiency in key areas related to funeral service.
“Lancaster Morgan’s voluntary participation in the Pursuit of Excellence program reflects a clear determination to exceed the expectations of those they serve,” said NFDA CEO Christine Pepper. “This prestigious recognition assures families of the high-quality, compassionate service they will receive the moment they walk through the funeral home’s front door.”
In accepting the award, Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home owner Doug Hunter stressed how his facility has been “hosting monthly grief seminars at our funeral home for more than four years now. This year, we added a monthly clergy seminar.
“We see our work here as a permanent outreach to our community, and are proud to be able to support those in grief and crisis,” he said.
Hunter and his wife, Dr. Josette Hunter, purchased the funeral home in 2007. For more information, visit www.lancastermorgan.com.
