Bangor nurse elected coordinator for international honor society

BANGOR, Maine — A geriatric nurse educator for Rosscare has been named local coordinator for Sigma Theta Tau International, a nursing honor society.

Valerie Sauda will oversee chapter leaders throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Halifax, Nova Scotia, according to a press release from Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. Sigma Theta Tau has more than 125,000 active members in 86 countries.

Sauda has worked in the Bangor area for more than 18 years. She formerly served as director of community services for Eastern Area Agency on Aging and as consumer services manager at Elder Independence of Maine. She also was an instructor at the University of Maine’s School of Nursing.
