Mars Hill man sought in violent assault

MARS HILL, Maine — State police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a 30-year-old Mars Hill man who is a suspect in a violent domestic assault.

State police Sgt. Brian Harris said that police began searching for Chad Walton shortly after the incident late on Sunday evening.

Walton is wanted for questioning in the case.

Harris said that the female victim suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle.

Walton is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He was last seen driving a 1998 green four-door Chevy Malibu with a license plate reading 4041SE.

Police believe that he remains in the southern Aroostook area.

Walton was indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury in 2009 for aggravated assault and violation of condition of release.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Maine State Police barracks at 532-5400. Any information will be kept confidential.
