Hampden police respond to gunshot reports

By Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN Staff

HAMPDEN, Maine — Several residents on Meadow Road called police early Sunday to report the sound of a weapon firing, Hampden officer Shawn Devine said Sunday.

“There were three or four reports of gunfire,” the officer said.

The first report came into police at 12:46 a.m. and the last one was reported at around 2:50 a.m.

When officers arrived in the area to investigate they found nothing, Devine said.

“We’re not sure” of the origin of noise, he said, adding “it’s possible” illegal hunters were in the woods poaching deer. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
