LINCOLN, Maine — A tractor-trailer carrying a load of pork and heading south from Van Buren rolled over on Interstate 95 Sunday afternoon, spilling its load on the side of the highway just south of Lincoln, according to state police Trooper Lawrence Anderson.
The driver, who was not identified, was able to walk away from the crash with only minor injuries, the trooper said.
The massive vehicle was seen weaving in and out of travel lanes by others on the highway, who reported what they saw to Maine State Police.
“A couple minutes later it went off the road” near mile marker 224, said Anderson, who patrols northern Penobscot County.
Trooper Adam Coover arrived first and his investigation revealed the driver fell asleep, Anderson said.
The big rig rolled over at around 2:45 p.m. and dumped its load of pork in a ravine on the side of the road, the trooper said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
