AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Warden Service reports that an ATV accident today in Farmington has left a father and son hospitalized with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Brian Dunton, 36, and his 9-year-old son, both of Winslow, were riding their Yahama Grizzly ATV on the Whistle Stop Trail when their machine left the trail in Farmington and hit a tree.
The Whistle Stop Trail is a 15-mile multiuse trail that runs from Jay to Farmington.
Speed is considered a cause of the crash. Both father and son were wearing helmets and both suffered injuries. They were transported by NorthStar Ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Maine Warden Kris MacCabe is in charge at the scene and reports that the helmets helped save both father and son from more serious injuries. The Warden Service will be examining the ATV to check for any mechanical issues.
