Hermon High School is ‘Singin’ in the Rain’

Hermon High School is preparing to make it rain — the real kind — on stage with their production of “Singin’ in the Rain.” Following in the steps of last year’s sold-out production of “Footloose,” students at Hermon High School are tapping and singing through the popular Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds number.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Hermon High School Auditorium.

The musical is based on the 1950s hit movie that starred actors Gene Kelly as Don Lockwood and Jean Hagen as Lina Lamont, both portraying Hollywood silent movie actors who are taking on their first roles in a “talking picture.”

Freshman Daniel Perkins will play the role of Don, with sophomore Gretchen Spencer as Kathy, senior Alex Proulx as Cosmo Brown and senior Abby Cummings in the role of Lina.

Tickets are $5 general admission and are available in advance at the Hermon High School box office by calling 848-4000 ext. 1162, or at C&K Variety, Country Market or Danforth’s Down Home Supermarket, Route 2, Hermon.
