CARIBOU – Eric H. Gove, 61, died Nov. 17, 2011, in Caribou, after defying all odds for six years and living a fulfilling, happy and joyful life after his diagnosis of cancer. He was born in Presque Isle, son of Harry and Mary (Murphy) Gove.
Eric was a 1968 graduate of Caribou High School as well as Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He was employed as an equipment operator for Brescia Construction and Soderberg Construction. More recently he was employed by Maine Military Authority. He married Diane Aldrich, June 25, 1971.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of more than 40 years, Diane of Caribou, are his mother of Houlton; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Ann Gove; one daughter and son-in-law, Erica and John Raymond, all of Caribou; one brother, Rod Gove of Winthrop; two grandchildren, Addison and Damon; his two "four-legged grandchildren," Jake and Jett; as well as his faithful companions, Rocky and Sonny. Eric will also be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his extended family, the Lee Doody family of Caribou.
Friends may visit with the family noon until time of services Sunday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where a celebration of Eric’s life will be held 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Sutherland officiating. Interment will be at Greenridge Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mr. Gove may do so through the Jefferson Cary Foundation to purchase an item of comfort for other oncology patients.
