BREWER, Maine — An Eastbrook hunter with a felony burglary conviction on his criminal record was charged early Wednesday with being a felon in possession of a firearm after Brewer police Officer Jeff Gotreau stopped him for having no inspection sticker on his vehicle.

Terrance Davis, 49, was dressed in hunter orange when he was stopped around 7:10 a.m. for having no inspection sticker on his vehicle, Brewer police Lt. Chris Martin said Thursday.

“He was in possession of a shotgun” and told Gotreau that he was in the area hunting for deer, the lieutenant said.

“He claimed he didn’t realize that he was a felon,” Martin said.

Davis, who also was searched, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana and possession of scheduled drugs for a diverted prescription pill found on him, the lieutenant said.
