General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a $6.9 million contract by the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command to produce about 600 M2 heavy barrel (M2HB) machine guns.

The work will be done at GD’s facility in Saco, which employs more than 400 people and has been making M2 machine gun parts since 1979.

According to a Tuesday release, this is the seventh delivery order awarded to General Dynamics since the company received an initial contract from the Army in 2009.

The production work for the new delivery order will be completed next spring.
