Shooting reported at Occupy camp in Vermont

The Associated Press

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Police in Vermont’s largest city say a 35-year-old man is in grave condition after he was shot at an Occupy Wall Street protest.

Burlington Deputy Chief Andi Higbee says the public is not believed to be at risk after Thursday’s shooting at City Hall Park. But he says the circumstances are still being investigated.

The shooting was reported around 2 p.m. Higbee says that the victim has been identified but that his name will not be released until his family has been notified.

News photos show police tape around the encampment. The camp has been in place since Oct. 28.
