UMaine student accused of assaulting female classmate

Editor’s Note: According to court records, Poussard pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct in relation to this case on Dec. 15, 2011. The charge of domestic assault was dropped.  

ORONO, Maine — A University of Maine student was arrested Monday night after he allegedly assaulted a female student, university spokesman Joe Carr said.

Carr said that campus police responded to a physical altercation outside the Donald P. Corbett Business Building between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Monday and discovered that a male student, Coby Poussard, 18, had assaulted a female classmate.

Poussard was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail. The female victim did not require medical treatment. (Ryan McLaughlin, BDN)
