HERMON, Maine — Voters elected a local businessman to an unexpired school committee post on Tuesday.

Town Clerk Eric Glidden said Christopher Patten won the seat with 756 votes, or 160 more than the 596 his opponent, Deborah Farnham, received.

The seat, which expires on June 30 of next year, originally was held by Ruth Ann Dyer, who recently married and moved out of Hermon, which made her ineligible to continue serving.
