Lincolnville voters support giving land to Habitat for Humanity

By Abigail Curtis, BDN Staff

LINCOLNVILLE, Maine — Voters on Tuesday night overwhelmingly approved giving a piece of land on Greenacre Road to Waldo County Habitat for Humanity.

Residents decided 633-138 to authorize the town selectmen to transfer the property to the nonprofit agency, according to Dave Kinney, town administrator.

He said that altogether, 46 percent of the town’s 1,710 registered voters went to the polls on Election Day.

“We were booming,” Kinney said.

The next step for the town will be to contact Habitat for Humanity to let them know the results of the vote, according to the administrator.
