BOOTHBAY, Maine — One hundred “hunters” in Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ traditional event, the Frozen Turkey Hunt, will take home frozen turkeys. And someone will win the grand prize of 150 gallons of fuel oil donated by presenting sponsor Dead River Company. Additional items for the Thanksgiving table will also be awarded. Activities and complimentary refreshments will be available at this free event — a gift from the Gardens — from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The official hunt begins at 11:15 a.m..

How do the “hunters” win? Different age groups from toddlers to 18 will search for hundreds of apples hidden in several areas of the Central Gardens. The apples are theirs to keep, and those with special stickers are winners.

Additional sponsors for the event are Cap’n Fish’s Whale Watch, Tindal & Callahan Real Estate, Valley View Orchards Pies and Native Maine Produce.

For information, call 633-4333, ext. 101, visit MaineGardens.org or stop by the Visitor Center off Barters Island Road in Boothbay.
