Maine tells firm no more mortgage applications

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine regulators have ordered Texas-based Allied Home Mortgage Corp. to stop accepting new mortgage applications from Maine consumers and to transfer pending applications to other lenders.

The Bureau of Consumer Credit Corp. issued the order after federal agencies suspended Allied’s ability to originate or underwrite mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration.

The bureau says Allied had a branch in Scarborough, which closed this week.
