School to hold 25th anniversary event

ROCKLAND, Maine — Penobscot School and FIORE Artisan Olive Oils and Vinegars wil celebrate Penobscot School’s 25th anniversary with a tasting party 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Fiore’s 503 Main St. The highlight of the event will be a drawing to determine the winner of school’s Week in Tuscany raffle.

Chartrand Imports, founded, owned and operated by Penobscot School trustee Paul Chartrand, will offer the organically grown wines at the event.

Musicians Mildred Crocker and Cy Scofield will entertain with Celtic harp and guitar. Crocker participates in music events throughout the United States and Canada and sings with Down East Singers and Rachmaninoff Choir.

Patti Luchetti, executive director at the Penobscot School, said of the raffle, “It has been 25 years in the making, and it is now time to draw the name of the lucky person who will travel to Tuscany, Italy, with three guests for a one-week stay in the spring of 2012.”

Luchetti said that Nancy Harmon Jenkins has donated this gift in celebration of the school’s 25th anniversary. The prizewinner also will receive toward expenses. Attendance at the tasting party is not required to win.

Penobscot School offers weekly instruction in a variety of foreign languages for midcoast residents. Weekly foreign language lunches, cooking classes and a variety of cultural events and potluck suppers are offered throughout the year.

The cost for the event is $25 per person, payable at the door. Both Penobscot School and Fiore invite all who share interests in other cultures, fine dining and international friendships to attend.
