PROSPECT – David A. Dawson, 68, passed away Nov. 4, 2011, at his residence. He was born July 4, 1943, in Boston, son of Aubrey and Lauretta (Christiansen) Dawson.
A 1961 graduate of Crosby High School, David served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, where he was a combat photographer and century dog handler. Upon returning home, David graduated from the Criminal Justice Academy and worked in law enforcement for Bangor Police Department, as well as Camden and Belfast Police departments. In later years he worked as a security officer for local businesses. He loved photography, gardening, reading and history.
He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters, George, William Sr., Richard, Charles and Ruth Klafts; his mother-in-law, Evelyn O’Brien; and brother-in-law, Lenny Harvey. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Catherine of Prospect; his children, David Dawson of Washington, Michelle Dawson of Bangor, Francine Fuller of Winthrop and Jason Fuller and wife, Patricia, of Searsmont; his sisters, Lauretta Bondio of Louisiana and Pauline Collins of Hawaii; sister-in-law, Doloris Dawson of Nevada; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Grove Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in David’s memory to Prospect Fire & Rescue, 958 Bangor Road, Prospect, ME 04981.
