Planned power interruption in downtown Bangor tonight

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Hydro Electric Co. has announced a planned power outage late Friday night into early Saturday morning involving parts of the city’s downtown.

The outage, expected to last from 11 p.m. Friday through 1 a.m. Saturday, will affect the section of Cumberland Street running between French and Harlow streets, Newton Street from 34 Newton to Spring Street, the Bangor Public Library, the Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building and various apartment complex residents in the area.

The outage is needed to allow Bangor Hydro crews to conduct maintenance and upgrades to the electrical system.
