PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A number of individuals are hoping to secure open City Council and school board seats in Presque Isle on Nov. 8.
Presque Isle officials said on Wednesday that six people are in the running for two four-year terms on the City Council.
Incumbent Don Gardner is hoping to keep his seat.
He is being challenged by Peter Hallowell, Micah Desmond, Jacqueline Goodine, Robert Jackson and David Perry. Hallowell is currently on the council, having been appointed for one year to fill a term vacated by Jennifer Trombley. He has now decided to vie for a full four-year term.
There also are two one-year seats on the council. Three individuals — Jessica Chase Smith, Sheldon Ellis and Richard Engels — are seeking those positions.
There are two seats open to represent two separate sections on the SAD 1 board of directors.
Robert Cawley is unchallenged in his quest to keep his seat representing section five on the board.
Lori Kenneson also is unchallenged in the election for a seat representing District 9.
