BANGOR — MaineStream Finance was the recipient of a $7,500 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation that will support MaineStream Finance’s homeownership programs. Jillian Saucier, vice president and commercial loan officer for TD Bank, Bangor, presented a check to Jayne Crosby Giles, CEO, MaineStream Finance, a subsidiary of Penquis.
MaineStream Finance’s homeownership programs support sustainable homeownership for people of low to moderate incomes by providing mortgage-related financial services, home buyer education, one-on-one mortgage application assistance and mortgages to purchase, refinance and-or repair a home.
“Sustainable homeownership begins with educated consumers who have the tools, capacity and options to make good choices about their homeownership decision and financing products,” said Giles. “The demand for MaineStream Finance’s mortgage services continues to grow within our target market of low-moderate income families living in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Knox and Waldo counties.”
The grant will support low- to moderate-income families with loan application assistance, home buyer education, and pre-purchase counseling. The home buyer education classes are held throughout the year. MaineStream Finance loan officers are available for one-on-one time to assist borrowers with the application process.
“The generous donation that we received from TD Bank through the TD Charitable Foundation helps MaineStream Finance provide a local, alternative source of home mortgage loans for those borrowers unable to obtain a loan. With the number of foreclosures still on the rise, MaineStream Finance’s homeownership programs are a life line for many families,” said Giles.”TD Bank is proud to support MaineStream Finance and their homeownership programs to assist as many Maine families as possible in owning their own homes,” said Saucier.
MaineStream Finance offers 30-year mortgage loans up to $150,000 for purchase and refinancing and is a statewide lender with offices in Rockland, Bangor, and Dover-Foxcroft.
