MACHIAS – Anne Marie Schoppee passed away peacefully Nov. 1, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 30, 1919, in Roque Bluffs, to David and Esther (Fish) Sinford.
Anne was a graduate from Machias High School and a longtime member of Centre Street Congregational Church, Machias. She was the church clerk for more than 25 years and a member of the Guild. Anne was a switchboard operator and retired from the University of Maine at Machias in 1985. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting and spending time with her family. Anne was known to have worked on the very first blueberry quilt and was an officer of Longfellow Cemetery Association. She spent many years serving her community.
Anne was a quiet, humble and giving woman. She enjoyed helping her family, friends and neighbors often without their knowledge. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Anne was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Frank "Bud" Schoppee; parents, David and Esther Sinford; and siblings, Electa Feeney, David Sinford Jr., Beatrice Norton, Gloria Bridgham and Grace Bucknam. She is survived by her daughters, Judy and husband, Gerald Wood, and Sheila and husband, Clinton Crowley; sisters, Mildred Lohr, Lorraine McGray, and Jean and husband, Donald Grant; brother, Leon and wife, Tela Sinford; grandchildren, Ellen and husband, Danny Reynolds, Jeanne and husband, Randy Day, David Wood, Lisa and husband, Tony Graham, Pamela and husband, Lindell Beal, and William and wife, Tara Crowley; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and husband, Gary Smith, Benjamin Reynolds, DeAnne and husband, Alan Taylor, Ericka and husband, Erik Smith, Brittany and husband, Adam West, Darren Graham, Garet Beal, and Kristian and Kaiden Crowley; great-great-grandchildren, Lola Smith, Kate and Michael Taylor, Keith and Vanna Smith; many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the emergency room staff at Downeast Community Hospital and staff at Marshall Healthcare Nursing Home.
Viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias. Funeral services will begin 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Centre Street Congregational Church, 9 Center St., Machias. Interment will be at Longfellow Cemetery, Machias.
