KEENE, N.H. — Police say they used a Taser on and arrested a Keene man caught Sunday night trying to burglarize the Staples store on Key Road in Keene.

Kevin G. Putnam, 32, faces charges of attempt to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of controlled drugs and criminal trespass, according to a news release from Keene police.

An alarm at the Keene office supply store alerted the authorities to a break-in about 8 p.m., the release said.

Keene police and troopers from N.H. State Police surrounded the building and a short time later a man ran out the back door, attempting to escape, the release said.

After a short foot chase, a N.H. State Police trooper used a Taser on the man, later identified as Putnam, and arrested him without incident, the release said.

Putnam was not injured during the arrest, police said.

He was held in jail overnight and scheduled to be arraigned this morning in 8th Circuit Court District Division in Keene, said Keene police Lt. Eliezer Rivera.
