ALFRED, Maine — Police say a Maine special education teacher accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy had at least seven sexual encounters with the student.

According to a sworn statement submitted by the York County Sheriff’s Department in the case, the boy told investigators most of the encounters took place in 36-year-old Jessica Pomerleau’s car.

Pomerleau, who taught at Massabesic High School in Waterboro, turned herself in to the sheriff’s office Oct. 11 in connection with the alleged relationship and was charged with gross sexual assault and aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs. She has denied the charges and is free on $10,000 bail. She is on paid leave from her job.

Police say the boy’s cellphone contained several sexual text messages from a “Jess.”
