BANGOR, Maine — A Winslow woman who was arrested for stealing jewelry from Sears last week was arrested again the next day for stealing a purse from a woman visiting the intensive care unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

Lori A. Roderick, 42, of Winslow, who also has a Windsor address, first was arrested about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, after reportedly shoplifting from the Bangor Mall retail store.

Police were called to the ICU about 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, after a woman reported her purse missing.

While Officer Dan Sanborn was there investigating, Roderick came in carrying a purse she said she found, Edwards said.

Sanborn checked the hospital’s surveillance camera system and found images that showed Roderick taking items out of the stolen purse, the sergeant said.

Roderick, who was searched and found with a diverted Vicodin pill, was arrested again and charged with theft by unauthorized taking, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and violating her bail conditions, Edwards said.
