Wednesday Walkers plan outings

BELFAST, Maine — Wonderful Wednesdays with the Wednesday Walkers, sponsored by the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition, has planned these walks:

• Wednesday, Nov. 9, will feature a walk through Moose Point State Park in Searsport led by Janet Willams, 548-2941, and Marietta Ramsdell, 548-0142. Call them for starting time, meeting place and length of hike.

• Barbara Klie will lead a hike along Coastal Mountain Land Trust’s Ducktrap River Trail at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. Meet on Route 52 where it crosses the Ducktrap River. The group will walk for about an hour upriver to the bridge. The route involves some uphill, but it’s not steep. By noon everyone will be back to the road. Don’t forget to wear orange. It’s hunting season. Call Barbara Klie at 338-5316 for details.

Hikes are offered on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, to anyone who would like to walk 2 to 4 miles with a congenial group. A different leader or contact person will be in charge of each outing. The program was developed by Barbara Klie and Janet Williams, members of the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition The outings are free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen and a snack,if desired.

The Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition plans regular outings to familiarize the public with the beauty and unusual features of the Belfast Bay watershed, as well as neighboring conservation properties. The watershed covers 69,657 acres and is composed of four smaller watersheds: Little River, Passagassawakeag River, Wescott Stream and Goose River. It includes all or parts of Brooks, Frankfort, Knox, Morrill, Northport, Searsport, Swanville and Waldo as well as the city of Belfast.
