Outlook: The Black Bears get their first look at an outside opponent in the Division III Falcons of the American Mideast Conference. UMaine looks to incorporate a handful of newcomers to its nucleus, which features All-America East sharpshooter McLemore. The Bears must retool a frontcourt that lost Troy Barnies and Sean McNally to graduation. Fisher is coached by Ellsworth native David Lindberg, the son of former Ellsworth High coach Bruce Lindberg, who is the headmaster at Lee Academy, and is in his sixth season. The Falcons lost five of their top six scorers from a year ago but have brought in 11 new players, including a handful of transfers.

Outlook: Fans will get their first look at the Black Bears under first-year head coach Richard Barron. That will include the unofficial debuts of freshmen Danielle Walczak, Becca Knight of Alfred, Kelsey Mattice, Amber Dillon and Courtney Anderson of Greene. UMaine is likely to feature a fast-paced approach to utilize its depth at the guard spots. The Varsity Reds have nine exhibition games under their belts (2-7). However, UNB lost three of its top five scorers from a year ago. UMaine won last year’s meeting 77-72.
