Contradance set for Blue Hill

BLUE HILL, Maine — A Hancock County Fiddlers Showcase & Contradance has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, in Emlen Hall at the Bay School on South Street.

Admission is $10, with a $30 maximum for families. Free for children under 5. All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund at Maine Fiddle Camp, a family-oriented music camp in Montville that focuses on Maine’s traditional dance music.

Saturday’s showcase will start with music from Big Moose and the individual showcase acts will start at 7 p.m. Immediately following is a community contradance with the All-Comers Band playing tunes and Chrissy Fowler calling. George Fowler of Brooklin, a Maine Fiddle Camp instructor and longtime local fiddler, will anchor the All-Comers Band, as he does for the regular 2nd Friday dances in Emlen Hall.
