Key players: Maine — LW-RW Spencer Abbott (3 goals, 4 assists), LW-C Brian Flynn (2 & 5), C Kyle Beattie (1 & 3), RW Joey Diamond (1 & 2), D Will O’Neill (1 & 2), G Martin Ouellette (0-2, 2.53 goals-against average, .896 save percentage), G Dan Sullivan (1-0-1, 2.89, .889); Providence — LW Andy Balysky (1 & 3), RW Damian Cross (1 & 3), LW Stefan Demoupoulos (1 & 3), C Derek Army (2 & 1), LW Matt Bergland (1 & 1), D Myles Harvey (3 & 0), G Alex Beaudry (2-1-1, 3.43, .881)

Outlook: The Black Bears had last weekend off so it will be important for them to shake the rust off early against a Providence team that has beaten Boston University (5-3) and UMass (6-4) and lost and tied defending national champ Minnesota-Duluth (5-2, 2-2), all at home. “It has been a long two weeks. It seems like it’s been even longer,” said Maine coach Tim Whitehead. “They’re a good team and we’re going to have to play at a good tempo and keep things simple.” Maine is 7-1-2 over the last 10 meetings. Flynn has 4 & 7 in nine career games against the Friars and Abbott has 7 & 2 in nine. First-year PC Coach Nate Leaman said “our level of execution will have to be very high because we’ll be facing an experienced team in a hostile environment. We’re going to have to work hard.”
