BIDDEFORD, Maine — Gambling referendum supporters and opponents are stating their cases for and against two questions on Maine’s Nov. 8 ballot asking voters if they want to allow racinos in southern and eastern Maine and a casino in Lewiston.

A coalition of organizations opposed to the referendums said it will make an announcement at a press conference Thursday afternoon in Biddeford. The coalition is made up of Casinos No!, Mainers Against A Rotten Deal, No More Casinos Maine, the Christian Civic League of Maine and Friends of Oxford Casino.

The Yes on 2 campaign, which supports a ballot question calling for harness racing tracks with slot machines in southern and eastern Maine, said it also has an announcement to make at a separate press conference in Biddeford earlier in the day.
