Review: Trooper could have prevented Farmington rollover

FARMINGTON, Maine — A state police safety board has determined that a Maine state trooper could have prevented a crash that sent him to the hospital with minor injuries and caused $10,000 in damage to his cruiser.

The board determined that Trooper Jedediah Malcore didn’t take appropriate evasive action when his cruiser just missed hitting two vehicles, veered off the road and rolled over on Aug. 18 on Route 43 in Farmington. He lost control after swerving to avoid hitting another car.

The cruiser’s siren and lights were on at the time because Malcore was responding to an emergency.

Maj. Chris Grotton told the Kennebec Journal all state troopers are trained to take steps to avoid losing control of their vehicles.

Grotton said Malcore has since undergone remedial training.
