Winter parking regulations to take effect next week in Bangor

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor’s winter parking regulations will take effect starting Tuesday, Nov. 1, and some changes are in store this year, according to police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

The regulations will continue through March 31 next year, and the following changes are planned:

• Vehicles may not be parked on a public street or parking area between midnight and 6 a.m., and vehicles may be towed violating the rule.

• At other times, parking is allowed on only one side of the street. On odd-numbered days of the month, cars must park on the side of the street with odd-numbered addresses. On the even-numbered days, vehicles must be parked on even-numbered side. This requirement does not apply to streets where one side of the street is posted to prohibit parking or where parking is restricted by time limits.

• Vehicles may not be parked on a public street or parking area while snow removal operations are taking place. Vehicles can be towed for this offense at any time of the day.
