Maybe you tried some Clif bars a couple of years ago and dismissed them as a food product, but it’s time to give Clif a try again.

The company has a handful of new options out that are yummy, filling and easily transportable for trips into the woods, or just trips to Grandma’s.

Crunch Granola Bar

This summer, Clif released two great new flavors of its granola bar: Blueberry Crisp and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Both are delicious and less than 200 calories. They have whole grains and are made with 70 percent organic ingredients, as are most of the Clif products. They are pretty high in fats and sugar, though, so try to keep in mind they aren’t really “health food.” They are $3.99 per 10-bar box.

Mojo Bars

Speaking of which, the Clif Mojo bars really are more like candy than energy bars, but my, are they delicious. These trail mix bars includes big hunks of chocolate, whole roasted nuts and seeds, and graham cookies or pretzels. The Chocolate Almond Coconut is a great option for those who love the salty/sweet combo. The Dipped S’Mores is flat-out decadent for a food that comes in bar form.

The Mojos are the messiest of Clif’s options – the chocolate melts all over on hot days, so they’re not the best option for camping trips in hot weather – but might be good for stashing in a purse for when you or the kids get the munchies while on the go. Just distribute with wet wipes. They are $1.39 each.

Buzz Energy Bar

Runners and other athletes might be interested in the Buzz bar. The Peanut Toffee Buzz bar is from a recipe that provides what it calls “sustained energy.” It has less sugar and fat than the above options, and a mix of carbohydrates, protein and fiber that gives you a steady increase in blood sugar levels, meaning you won’t have a sugar crash after eating it.

They are made with organic rolled oats, roasted soybeans, milled flaxseed and soy flour. The Peanut Toffee flavor is delicious and they are 250 calories, with only 50 calories from fat. They are $1.39 each.
