OWLS HEAD, Maine — “You can find it here” is the theme of the annual Owls Head Transportation Museum’s Great Fall Auction & Flea Market that will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, at the museum. From movie tickets to a Caribbean vacation, from collectibles to new and used tools, there will be several items up for sale.

The event begins with a flea market and auction preview 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 and will be followed by a silent auction at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. Live auction bidding will start at 9:30 a.m.

There is no charge to become a bidder and admission to the museum is free all weekend.

Big ticket items will be auctioned at noon. These special items include a week-long all-inclusive stay at the Divi Aruba Resort in Aruba, a week home rental in the village of Seillan in the south of France, a celebrity airplane ride with singer-songwriter and pilot Livingston Taylor, and a variety of luxury lodging and dining packages.

The museum recently accepted a large donation of tools from the estate of the founder of the Brookstone tool company. Included in the sale will be everything from lathes to power and hand tools to precision modeling tools.

“It’s a real treasure trove that will appeal to wood workers, machinists, modelers and hobbyists alike,” said auction coordinator Ethan Yankura.

The museum has received hundreds of other donations from local businesses including gift certificates for professional services, lobsters, heating oil, auto supplies, original art, electronics, health club memberships, magazine subscriptions and household items.

The auction also includes several private donations made by members and friends of the museum.

Saturday’s flea market will consist of hundreds of donated items not included in the auction. Proceeds from the event will be used to support museum education programs.

Donations for the event will be accepted through Thursday, Oct. 27. All donations are tax deductible.

A current list of auction items is available online at owlshead.org. More items are added daily. For information, call 594-4418.
