Squirrel meets … donut. Got milk?

Not a neat eater, but this squirrel makes quick work of his tasty treat.

In theory, squirrels are wild animals. As it turns out, new research shows that they don’t sit around an nibble acorns all the time. In fact, when they think we’re not looking, squirrels have been found to enjoy the finer things in life … like glazed donuts. In this scene captured in August, a gray squirrel prepares for a feast while perched on a residential fence in Brewer. For the record, there is no bakery within convenient scampering distance, and the squirrel was not baited by a photographer eager for a cute shot. ┬áThe message, apparently: Hide your donuts. Squirrels can’t be trusted.
