Bangor man steals pills, cash from ‘friend of a friend’

BANGOR, Maine — A local man who took cash and prescription pain pills from a woman on Moosehead Boulevard on Sunday afternoon was caught by police shortly after leaving the victim’s residence, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

Damien Woods, 29 of Bangor was staying with the victim, who said he is a “friend of a friend,” and had the prescription pain medication and cash on him when stopped on nearby Sugarloaf Lane at around 1:30 p.m., the sergeant said.

Woods, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, was charged with theft and stealing drugs. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and remained there Monday morning, Edwards said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
