Maine AFL-CIO holds biennial convention

BANGOR, Maine — More than 130 delegates and alternates meeting for two days at the Maine AFL-CIO’s biennial convention will elect officers and discuss jobs, Wall Street, upcoming legislative issues and the voter registration referendum.

The labor federation’s 28th Biennial Convention is being held Thursday and Friday in Bangor. A presentation by Occupy Maine is on the agenda, and a working families candidate training program to run members for local elected office will be launched.

The convention will also feature replicas of the Maine labor history mural. The replicas have been touring the country since this year’s controversy over the removal of the real murals from Maine Department of Labor offices.

The Maine AFL-CIO is a federation of over 160 local unions.
