Solar energy talk to be offered in Rockland

A representative from a solar energy company will discuss options for incorporating solar systems into Maine homes during a free event to be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Rockland.

The discussion is part of the Green Homes Lecture Series, a multiweek discussion presented by the U.S. Green Building Council and hosted in Rockland by Evergreen Home Performance. John Luft with ReVision Energy, a firm with several offices in Maine and New Hampshire that designs and installs solar energy systems, will discuss options for solar energy in Maine.

“One common misconception that people have is that solar energy doesn’t work well in Maine because we don’t have a very long summer,” Luft said in a statement. “The reality is that solar energy works very well in Maine year round, and the technology has advanced enough that it is making a significant difference in people’s energy bills.”

The talk will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evergreen Home Performance, 15 Tillson Ave., Rockland. Admission is free, but interested parties are asked to preregister by calling 594-2244 or emailing printed on April 24, 2017
