Toys for Tots

ROCKLAND — Pizza Hut of Rockland will give a free pizza certificate to customers who donate a new and unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots for distribution to local children. The toy drive at Pizza Hut begins Sunday, Oct. 23, and will last until the 150 free pizza certificates are gone.

“We are thrilled Pizza Hut has partnered with us to bring the joy of the holidays to local kids,” said Richard Vargas, Toys for Tots coordinator. Additional donation boxes will be available at locations across Knox and Waldo counties starting Tuesday, Nov. 1. For donations or toy requests call Vargas at 354-6282 or email knoxwaldocountytoysfortots@gmail.com.

Toys for Tots is operating from the Nativity Lutheran Church in Rockport, which has donated the space. Donations and toy pickup at the church will be made by appointment only.

Sponsors of Toys for Tots are Pizza Hut of Rockland, Nativity Lutheran Church, Applebee’s of Thomaston and Rock City Motorcycles. The Midcoast Detachment of the Marine Corps League has supported the Toys for Tots initiative for many years. Those who want to volunteer or sponsor the effort may call Vargas at 354-6282.
