CASTINE — Melikke Van Alstyne rushed for 251 yards and five touchdowns on 31 carries Saturday afternoon, powering Framingham State to a 42-14 New England Football Conference victory over Maine Maritime Academy at Ritchie Field.

Van Alstyne scored on runs of 15, 1, 1, 14 and 45 yards to help the Rams amass 272 rushing yards and 475 total yards.

The win for Framingham State (5-2) snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Mariners (4-2) and put the Rams in sole possession of first place in the NEFC’s Bogan Division at 4-0.

The Rams complemented Van Alstyne’s running with a potent passing attack that featured quarterback Dino Mancinelli (20-for-26, 203 yds., 1 TD) and receiver James McCarthy (10 catches, 77 yds.).

MMA (2-2 NEFC Bogan) was unable to establish its option offense. The Mariners netted 234 yards on the ground behind Nick Bourassa (13 att., 81 yds.) and did not have a player surpass 100 yards.

Framingham took the lead on Van Alstyne’s 15-yard run to cap a 74-yard drive in the first quarter. The Rams then got the ball at the MMA 19 on their next drive after a bad snap and needed seven plays to score on a 1-yard dive by Van Alstyne.

The visitors then drove 94 yards on 11 plays near the end of the first half and made it 19-0 on Mancinelli’s 8-yard scoring pass to Alexander Avery.

The Rams scored first early in the second half to take command.

MMA quarterback Matthew Rende scored on a 1-yard run in the third quarter and Frank True returned a fumble 17 yards for a TD 52 seconds later, accounting for all of the Mariners’ scoring.

Alex Hermes piled up 17 tackles to pace MMA, while Michael Burgess and True made 12 and 10, respectively.

Mount Ida 50, Husson 0

At Newton, Mass., the Mustangs limited the Eagles to 109 total yards and came up with three turnovers to post an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference shutout.

Johrone Bunch diced up the Husson defense to the tune of 207 yards and three TDs on 26 carries, while Kareem Cope netted 133 yards on 16 tries as the Mustangs (3-3, 2-1 ECFC) rolled up 569 total yards, including 392 on the ground.

Scott Drosendahl also passed for three scores, including throws of 81 and 11 yards to Nick Lynch and one of 13 yards to Matt Valenti.

Imadhi Zagon rushed 18 times for 61 yards to pace Husson (0-6, 03 ECFC), while quarterback Kash Keezer completed 10 of 23 passes for 82 yards and was intercepted twice.

Stephan Dance made 12 tackles to lead the Eagles, while Jason Nickola posted eight.

Mount Ida scored three times in a span of 6 1/2 minutes to build an early lead.

Bunch scored on a 5-yard run with 6:26 left in the first quarter after an illegal kick penalty gave Mount Ida the ball at the Husson 8-yard line.

Two minutes later, after a Husson punt, the Mustangs scored on the next play, an 81-yard hookup from Drosendahl to Lynch.

The hosts held again and went back to work, going 59 yards on six plays, including Bunch’s 4-yard scoring run six seconds into the second quarter that made it 21-0.
