VASSALBORO — Ali Prescott of Fort Kent won the state schoolgirl golf title with an 87 Saturday at Natanis Golf Course.
Prescott beat runnerup Monica Austin by four strokes while Greely of Cumberland Center golfers Edith Aromando and Sarah Hansen tied for third at 92. Meghan Flanigan of the Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics finished fifth with a 92.
In the state schoolboy competition, Madison’s Seth Sweet won his second straight Class C state crown with a 2-under 70, the best round of all classes in the tourney.
In Class A, Joe Walp of Deering in Portland and Ben Bell of Sanford shared the state title with a 75 while Oliver Malcom of Lincoln Academy in Newcastle recorded a 73 to win the Class B crown.
Rounding out the top five in the Class A field were Brewer’s Kyle Alexander and Falmouth’s Will Bucklin, each with a 77, and Mike Haas-Zanghi of Cheverus in Portland with a 78.
In Class B, Luke Ruffing of Maranacook in Readfield shot a 74 to finish second while Dalton Wickendon of Camden Hills (76), Jamie Jackson of Belfast (77) and Seward Matel of Lincoln Academy (77) rounded out the top five.
In Class C, Deer Isle Stonington’s Sam Grindle turned in a strong round with a 72 to finish second. Rounding out the top five were Mark Corella of Ashland (76), Zach Beblois of St. Dominic in Auburn (77) and Will Kanneigieser of Gould Academy (77).
Winthrop’s Taylor Morang recorded a hole-in-one during the tourney on the 140-yard 12th hole.
