Fairfield police seeking armed robbery suspect

FAIRFIELD, Maine — Fairfield police are on the lookout for a man who robbed the Big Apple convenience store early Thursday morning, getting away with an undisclosed amount cash.

Although no weapon was shown, police believe the robber might have been concealing a weapon inside of his hooded sweatshirt, according to an alert posted on the Fairfield Police Department’s Facebook page.

The robber, who remained at large Thursday night, is described as a white male, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall and weighing between 250 and 300 pounds. He was wearing a dark red hooded sweatshirt, a gray fleece jacket and sunglasses during the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight.

According to police, the robber entered the store and demanded cash from the safe. He then grabbed cash from the register and fled on foot. He was last seen heading toward Norridgewock.
